Regular work hours? Looks like a weekend to me, and the sign was too well planted…

  • Alpha Wolf

Given your-how shall I say this?-creativity with readily verifiable facts, this smells fishy and lacks credibility.

  • Alpha Wolf

Yes, I somehow get the feeling the video was shot on a weekend, given this photo that facebook says was uploaded on March 6, a Saturday.

Why should we take your word for it that this is during “regular office hours” when there is no clear evidence?

  • http://unrforliberty.com/ Barry Belmont

Okay…so I just spent a little more time trying to figure out when we shot this than I would care to admit but here is my evidence in favor of when it was shot.

John and I were in a crazy rush that day trying to get stuff done. That's because I had to be at work latter that same day (Friday, March 5). My job consists of teaching little kids about science and engineering. I went back and checked my schedule and I actually remember this particular session quite vividly. It was at Roy Gomm Elementary and it was a presentation that I had to give by myself on how electric motors work in front of 50+ fifth graders. I had to be there at 1:45. It takes about 10 minutes to drive there if you drive like me. It takes about 5 minutes to get across campus if you walk like me. That means I left the JCSU no later than 1:30. We met at Trojes at noon I believe and walked up there to exploit their resource room for clubs (hence the two signs).

Thus this video was probably between 12:10 - 1:30 on Friday March 5. During regular business hours. QED.

Barry is correct… this was taken on a friday afternoon. I direct you to :40 where you can clearly see a jacket laying on the back of one of the workers chairs. If you back up to :36… you can see the door cracked with keys hanging on the handle. They were nowhere to be found the entire time we were making our signs, which encouraged us to do this little segment. I cant tell you how many times this has personally happened to me… so lazy.

  • http://unrforliberty.com/ John Russell

We dont need to fabricate evidence to show how how worthless they are.

  • Alpha Wolf

Okay, I buy that. And it's unreasonable for people to be gone during the lunch hour because…?

  • http://unrforliberty.com/ Barry Belmont

Shit…you just like to argue about nothing don't you? All we were trying to show was that it's a tad bit ridiculous for an entire floor to be empty all at once…lunch time or not. If you can't just take this as the mild smirk-inducing evidence for the absurdity of the ASUN (I mean, come on, the ENTIRE floor was empty in the middle of a weekday), then fine, whatever.

But seriously get a life you pathetic loser. You're reaching Thornley status.

  • EThornley

Barry Belmont, quite frankly, you can screw off. No one cares about your fringe ideas, stick to writing your science columns, at least they bring you some credibility.

So far you guys have not have to go out of your way to show how worthless the ASUN is. You went and got thousands of dollars to have your “Abolish the ASUN” event. They gave you the money and then copied the event for their own. Basically they doubled the “waste” and they did it on their own. Sounds like typical government waste we see everyday in the “real world”.
There is no accountability for the ASUN. They are elected and let go to do what they want with no one holding them accountable. Thank goodness you guys are questioning the system.
A great man I know said, “All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to remain silent”. The ASUN is not evil but a system out of control. Some one needs to question the motives and results.
One thing I can tell you, you may not agree with Barry, but he is not a liar. You can question his motives but not his honesty.
    SFL keep it going!

I've often wondered what effect the internet has had on the consciousnesses of those who enter it. There are some who believe that the internet, with its global interconnectedness and open exchange of information, enhances the awareness of those involved. They claim that being able to relate to someone on the other side of the world in seconds and able to question everything will make us all more sympathetic and more acutely aware of our own held beliefs.

There are others who feel that since the internet “enables” people to view the world through any lens they please, it must necessarily reduce the critical thinking capacities of those individuals and hence skew their awareness.

Eric, you, as an individual on the internet, are most readily explained by the second theory. I do not mean this to be offense, but your name has become synonymous with the worst kind of internet troll-ery. It seems, at least to me, that you spam websites relentlessly with pointless asides, nonsensical quips, and comment after comment of irrelevance. It seems like you can't wait to scorch the heavens and light the earth ablaze with your flame wars.

And though I can see that you have mellowed slightly through the years or so, your outbursts of completely entrenched dialogue do nothing but make you the poster boy for all that is wrong with discussions on the internet.

My comment about the wolf kid entering ThornleyLand was two fold: 1) He, like all others, probably recognize your name as everything that I have posited above. 2) You, of course, would be chomping at the bit to say something in response. It is my hope that you will eventually be snapped out of your Trolling State of Mind and hopefully learn to critical examine what it is you have to say before you feel the unconTROLLable urge to say it.

That said, clearly my ad hominem attack of both you and Wolf Dude was not intended to bolster the point that the ASUN is ridiculous. I recognize that it added nothing of substance to that particular issue, but hopefully this tangential point will be of some benefit to somebody. Maybe even you.

  • EThornley

Barry, seriously…get a grip. You are the one that “trolled” in the first place by personally insulting me. I did nothing except to question the scientific process, and I get a slap in the face.

  • http://unrforliberty.com/ Barry Belmont

I urge you to go back and read my previous comment as it makes yours that followed nothing more than a prime example of the “trolling” I and others accuse you of.

Perhaps I missed something, but I don't recall you questioning the scientific process? I also don't recall claiming that you did, or that you should be slapped across the face for doing so. Maybe we have misunderstood each other.

Though, now that you have brought up the scientific process, I'd like to conduct a little (not-really-scientific) experiment with you. I am going to try to prove to you and to myself (and to anyone reading these comments) whether or not you are “troll.” To do this I will ask you not to respond to this comment. Restrain yourself. Refrain from responding.

The two possible outcomes will prove, unequivocally, whether or not you are a troll because:

    1) If you do respond, it shows that you care more about responding to this post than proving to yourself that you are mature enough not to. It'll prove that there is nothing anyone can say or do to move you from your position and that you feel this position (no matter how moot or minuscule) needs to be conveyed to those around you. Thus, showing you are a troll.

    2) If you do not respond it will show that you aren't compelled or urged to respond, but rather that you can reason through a proposition and address it rationally. It will show that while you may be passionate about a great many things and that you often feel you have something to add to the conversation, you ultimately value rationality over hammering your specific point home constantly. This will show you are not a troll and that I am mistaken in calling you one.

But enough about whether you are a troll, I urge all of us to address ourselves to the topic at hand: Is ASUN ridiculous for simply not existing on a Friday during lunch time or is it not?
