Our club (along with several other excellent organizations) has been nominated for the national Students for Liberty‘s Event of the Year. The event we were chosen for was our initial kick off of the Abolish ASUN movement, namely, the Abolish ASUN Festival, where, just in case you forget, we willfully wasted our student government’s funds to show that no governments can ever properly allocate the money of others.

The event inspired many spin-offs, gained a lot of local and national exposure, and lit discussions about the fundamental realities of governments amongst everyone who has heard about it.

So please check out all the award finalists and vote* for those individuals and groups you feel are propelling the libertarian youth movement in exciting and fertile new ways.

SFL: UNR Students for Liberty…and Ponies

For the newer visitors to our site, we urge you to check out the organization we love so much, we decided to use their name, The Students for Liberty. In addition to be the student organization that is single-handedly changing the focus of liberty on campuses throughout the nation, they are also an amazing source of information and structure in how to operate a liberty-based organization.

For those who also don’t know, they also graced us with a nomination for Student Group of the Year for their upcoming international conference.

Not only that, but they gave our recent antics with the ASUN national exposure.

For that we thank them and can only hope that in reforming our student government, they can teach others how to reform theirs.

Our government is not special nor unique in its misappropriation of illegitimate student funds. We can criticize them and meet with them and work with them and spout sound economic principles until we are blue in the face. …sometimes people just need a wet fish to the face to shock them out of their complacency. We hope our efforts might, in some small part, play a roll in the larger hope of reforming not only student government spending, but all government spending.

The UNR Students for Liberty are proud to have hosted our second “How to Survive a Police Encounter” event. Those of whom were in attendance are now more informed citizens who know how to properly and effectively flex their Constitutional rights during a police encounter.

We would like to thank Linda Nordvig for volunteering her expertice that evening in clearing up any questions anyone had in attendance. We would also like to thank Students for Liberty and the CATO Institute for supplying us with their really nice pocket Constitutions for the event as well.
