[Correction: ASUN, not Orgsync] Sucks
By: John Russell

I’m sorry for a somewhat unrelated post, but this is getting ridiculous.  The ASUN is expecting clubs to update their profiles via Orgsync by next month or they will lose recognition, but Orgsync is hindering clubs from being able to do so.  I know myself, and many other club leaders, hate this program.  I am mainly creating this post to show the hacks at ASUN why they need to drop this. I suspect that this particular error is a failure of the (lazy) people at campus IT, but if Orgsync’s minimum system requirements cannot be met, then the commission cannot drop a club’s recognition status due to not updating their “profile”.

Update I:
As you can see, it throws the error “You can not login into the University of Nevada Orgsync portal, as you are not a current undergraduate student in 7 or more credits at the University of Nevada, Reno. If you have questions about this please call 775-784-6589 or visit http://www.asun.unr.edu”
This error is really bizarre because I am currently enrolled in 9 credits this summer session, not like that should matter since enrollment in summer isn’t a prerequisite to using the club portal.

Update II:
I just got proactively contacted by Orgsync who let me know it was, in fact, a restriction placed by the school and not them. Sorry for blaming you Orgsync! I’ll be sure to rename this post and the title of the youtube video. It is actually campus IT’s credit validation system messing up. Good luck getting them to do something about it…

    John,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing challenges using OrgSync. Each campus we work with has different criteria for access to their OrgSync community. UNR requires that you must be enrolled in 7 credit hours as an undergraduate student (as you saw when you attempted to log in). This is not a restriction placed by OrgSync. In the message you received when your access was denied, you’ll see the number to contact if you are not granted access. Please contact us at support@orgsync.com if you are not able to reach the contacts on your campus.

OrgSync is intended to make things more accessible to you, so please let us know if there is anything we can do to further assist you once your access is granted by UNR. We are here to help and support you in whatever way we can. Feel free to contact us any time and thank you for voicing your opinion!
